Golf, Anyone?
Tournament is Sunday, December 9th, 2007 at the Ocotillo Golf Resort (www.ocotillogolf.com).
Please contact denny36(the at sign)yahoo(dot)com for more details.
Help us! Play Golf, Sponsor, Volunteer
We are currently looking for hole sponsors. A sponsorship costs $200 and includes a large company sign on a given hole, any banner you can provide for the arches in front of the Ocotillo Club House, and the word of mouth advertisement this type of donation carries. So far, we have sponsors for eighteen of the twenty-seven holes.
We are also looking for gift certificates and other prizes that can be raffled off at the conclusion of the tournament. Arizona Greens donated a free backyard putting green, and dozens of restaurants and other companies have donated various raffle prizes.
Our tax accountant Badowski & White has filed all the necessary paperwork for a tax ID# and we should have that information in the next couple of weeks. Required forms have also been filed with the Arizona Corporations Commission. Most costs for this non-profit event are tax deductible.
Please let us know if you are interested in participating as a sponsor, player, or volunteer. You can also help by donating raffle prizes or purchasing raffle tickets.
We appreciate any assistance you can provide in this endeavor and are eagerly awaiting your response.
Please contact Denny Ebel at
denny36(the at sign)yahoo(dot)com to:
_____ Sponsor a Hole ($200)
_____ Play in the tournament ($125 per player or $500 per foursome)
_____ Volunteer at the tournament
_____ Donate raffle prizes
_____ Purchase raffle tickets (5 tickets for $10 or 20 tickets for $30)
Letter to 2006 Golf Tournament Participants
I would like to thank all of you who sponsored, participated, or helped in the First Annual Krystal Ebel Golf Tournament last September. We raised over $15,000 for the scholarship program. Our family selected three students from Dobson High School, and each received a $1000 scholarship in Krystal's name. Over the past two and a half years, we have given out eight scholarships to Dobson Seniors. However, our goal is to build an endowment that will grant scholarships to high school students for many generations to come.
We have made many other accomplishments over the past year, as well. First, we helped to persuade the Mesa and Peoria School Districts to close their campuses at lunchtime. Also, we have promoted the Drive Kind program with donations from bracelets and magnets www.drivekind.com. In addition, many Dobson students have attended Driver’s Edge, a free hands-on driving class out at Firebird Raceway. Recently, we helped to pass HB 2033, the Teenage Driving Act, through the Arizona State Legislature. Although we have accomplished much, we still have a long way to go.
Our Second Annual Benson Systems Krystal Ebel Memorial Golf Tournament promises to be even better than last year. First, we will be moving the tournament to Sunday, December 9th. That way we won't have to compete with the Cardinal's schedule, and it will be a lot cooler. It also happens to be the 3rd anniversary of Krystal's passing.
Another change is that we hope to expand the field to use all 27 holes at Ocotillo Golf Resort this year. This will allow for 216 players to participate in the event.
We will also need to find more hole sponsors than last year. Benson Systems has agreed to be our corporate sponsor, and we have kept the contact information for all of our previous sponsors and raffle prize contributors.
Finally, we plan to make this year’s tournament even more organized than last year. We will be asking for help earlier, forming committees, and working in teams to accomplish goals. We’ll need to rally sponsors, sign up players, sell and distribute raffle tickets, and facilitate all the other aspects of the tournament to ensure that it is successful.
Again, we cannot thank you enough for your commitment to this event. After losing Krystal, we have been absolutely touched by the support of our family and friends. This tournament is just another way that we celebrate and honor Krystal’s memory, and we are so happy that you want to be part of it. www.krystal-ebel.memory-of.com/
Sincerely,
Krystal's Legacy
We encouraged the Mesa & Peoria School Districts to have closed campus lunches.
We have supported Driver’s Edge, a free hands-on driving class, which is held at Firebird Raceway by professional race car drivers each year.
We created a website called www.drivekind.org, which promotes safe driving habits and gives ideas for keeping kids safe while driving.
Recently, we helped to pass HB 2033, the Teenage Driving Act, through the Arizona State Legislature.
Last year, we hosted our first golf tournament to raise more money for the Krystal Ebel Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Origin of Krystal Ebel Memorial Scholarship Fund
In December of 2004, we lost our daughter Krystal in a lunchtime car accident. Krystal was brilliant, funny, creative, and a joy to be around. She was wise beyond her years and helped so many people in the short time she spent on earth. The accident happened just a few weeks before her sixteenth birthday. Her family and friends were lucky to have known Krystal, and we all still miss her very much. You can visit Krystal’s website, http://krystal-ebel.memory-of.com/, where her friends and relatives post photos and stories about her life.
